東京オリンピック・パラリンピック大会組織委員会の森喜朗会長は3日、日本オリンピック委員会（JOC）の臨時評議員会で、「女性がたくさん入っている理事会の会議は時間がかかります」と発言した。
この女性差別発言は東京五輪組織委トップの発言ということで、世界中のメディアが一斉に報じ、強く非難している。発言の撤回・謝罪だけでは収まりそうにない。

Yoshiro Mori, president of the Tokyo Olympic organizing committee, on Wednesday said women have an “annoying” tendency to make meetings run unnecessarily long in comments that he sought to retract Thursday.
Speaking to members of the Japanese Olympic Committee with reporters present, Mori said “board of directors meetings with many women take a lot of time.” ・・・
Mori became chief of the Tokyo Games organizing committee in 2014 and almost immediately attracted negative attention in his home country by saying that figure skater Mao Asada — a silver medalist at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics and a two-time world champion — was “always falling at the most critical time.”
米ワシントンポスト紙は、「東京五輪の会長が、女性が会議であまりに話しすぎ『迷惑だ』と発言」との見出しで報道した。
フィギュアスケートの浅田真央さんへ「大事な時には必ず転ぶ」と発言したことなど、過去の数々の失言を取り上げ、森氏を「数々の侮辱的な発言をしてきた経歴の持ち主だ」と報じた。

TOKYO (Reuters) – The president of the Tokyo 2020 organising committee told a meeting on Wednesday that female directors talked too much, which was “annoying”, according to Japanese newspaper Asahi Shimbun.
Yoshiro Mori, a former prime minister, made the comments, some of which were greeted with laughter, at a meeting with members of the Japanese Olympic Committee, the Asahi reported. ・・・
On Tuesday, Mori had told a meeting with Japan’s Sports Research Commission that “we will hold the Olympics, regardless of how the coronavirus (situation) looks”.
In response to those comments, Japanese comedian Atsushi Tamura, who was set to be an Olympic torchbearer, said he would decline to run in the torch relay due to begin March 25.
